Recommended Books on Catholic Apologetics

Athanasius, On the Incarnation.

Buck, The Gentle Traditionalist.

Budziszewski, What You Can’t Not Know.

Chaput, Strangers in a Strange Land

Remaining in the Truth in Christ.

Douthat, Bad Religion.

Eberstadt, It is Dangerous to Believe.

Feser, Five Proofs for the Existence of God.

Feser, The Last Superstition: A Refutation of the New Atheism.

Longenecker, More Christianity.  This book is to Catholicism what Mere Christianity is to basic Christianity. Written by a Fundamentalist Evangelical turned Anglican priest turned Catholic priest, it is an excellent resource  for convinced Christians giving the Catholic Church a serious look.  While unapologetically Catholic, this work presents unique Catholic beliefs in an inviting way.  Also ideal for Catholics who struggle with certain aspects of Church teaching who want to learn more about their faith.

MacIntyre, After Virtue: A Study in Moral Theory.

Martin, Will Many be Saved?

Mohler, Symbolism.

Pitre, The Case for Jesus.

Schoeborn, Chance of Purpose?

Weigel, Evangelical Catholicism.

Wojtyla, Love and Responsibility.

Zmirak, The Bad Catholic’s Guide to the Catechism.  The funniest spiritual book that I have ever read!  Zmirak tries to make the enemies of the faith look so absurd that a torrent of laughter discredits them.  A great confirmation gift.

Zmirak, The Politically Incorrect Guide to Catholicism.
