Ad Orientem Worship

Responses

  1. Father — I didn’t listen to this video — but I suspect it is in favor of the priest saying Mass with his back to the congregation and focused on Jesus. I think the day for this has come and gone and will not be back. We like seeing your face! :)

  2. Excellent video! I am a fan of Ad Orientem! I think the day for this has come.. and is long overdue! In a spiritual and psychological way, it is good for the people and for the priest. No matter how much we love our priests, he can more fully be “in Persona Christi” and bring us to see the face of Christ on the altar.

  3. The priest intercedes for the people before Christ who in turn intercedes before the Father–that makes the priest praying WITH the people–ad orientem–the only logical orientation. It is NOT praying with his back to the people, a common error of understanding. Eastern Catholics would be mystified at someone saying it is a practice whose time has come and gone. :-) Pax.
