MUNCIE, Ind. – A Muncie man accused of threatening to kill shoppers at the northside Goodwill store unless they converted to Islam made his first court appearance on Wednesday.

It could also prove to be his final court appearance, at least in Delaware County.

Khalid Sulaiman Bilal, 24 – whose local address was at the Scheidler Apartments complex, owned by Ball State University, along North Tillotson Avenue – is charged with 15 crimes stemming from the March 25 incident at the Goodwill store at 5035 W. Hesler Blvd.

The former Ball State student had been detained at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital until his transfer to the Delaware County jail on Tuesday…

He is charged with battering and choking a store clerk, telling her he would kill her if she did not convert to Islam, and attacking police officers who tried to detain him, as he repeatedly shouted, “Allahu Akbar.”…
